Burnside gather together to commemorate D Day

Burnside Care Home decided to celebrate D-DAY last week.

A few of the residents served in the army in WW2 and many have family members who have or are still serving.

As it was the 75th anniversary, everyone got together to listen and share their stories and memories - some of them sad and some of them happy.

It wasn't long before the group started singing various war songs finishing off with Vera Lynn's 'we'll meet again'.

They also watched the march of the veterans and the flyover of the red devils.

As they listened to the 'lone piper and last post' it brought a tear everyone's eyes and at the end of the afternoon, they all raised a glass to lost heroes.
