Newark Care Home summer fete raises nearly £1,000

Residents, family and the local community got in the summer spirit this weekend at Newark Care Home’s summer fete. Despite damp weather, nearly £1,000 was raised for the Residents Comfort Fund, to contribute to day trips, entertainment and other fun activities for residents at the home.

Visitors enjoyed the many stalls in the garden, including a tombola, bottle stall and the big raffle. Local bikers turned up with their classic motorbikes, much to the delight of two residents – John Fisken and Fredrick McCabe who both used to be bikers. Bunny & Co bought a range of animals for the children to hold and pet, and there was also face painting, beat the goalie and sponge throwing for the younger visitors.

Moira Roberts, Newark Care Home manager said: "We had a great turn out on the day and residents and their families thoroughly enjoyed the activities and stalls on display. We’re delighted with the amount of money raised." Newark Care Home is run by Silverline Care, set in the suburbs of Port Glasgow.
