11th April 2017 Couple at Manorcroft celebrate diamond wedding anniversary
A resident at Manorcroft care home in Dewsbury celebrated her diamond wedding anniversary with her husband at the weekend. June Earnshaw says the secret to her happy marriage is letting her husband go to the pub. Her husband Eric thinks he deserves a ‘blooming medal’ for being married for so long. June lives at Manorcroft care home due to Alzheimer’s, but her husband regularly visits and comes to have lunch. The home organised a party with the couple’s friends and family, as well as fellow residents. They were entertained by Julianna, a local entertainer who works at Manorcroft regularly. The couple were thrilled with the celebration. Neil Booth, Manorcroft care home manager said: “Sunday was a lovely day for all involved. Sixty years is an impressive time to be married, and even though June and Eric are not together every day which can be upsetting for them, we make every effort to make sure they see each other regularly. “The diamond wedding anniversary was particularly special as everyone at the home, as well as family and friends, got together to celebrate.”
